To Protect & Serve
~ The Courage Series ~
Book 1
To save others’ lives, they will risk their own…
Houston firefighter, Jeff Taylor is a fireman’s fireman. He’s not afraid of anything, and no situation is too dangerous to keep him on the sideline if lives are at stake.
Lisa Matheson runs a semi-successful ad agency that’s on the brink of falling apart. Her employees are incompetent and her schedule has become exhausting. When she takes on a client with a brilliant idea for a big conference, she thinks that maybe, finally this is her lucky break. However, the fire station wasn’t what she had in mind for finding conference speakers. When she falls for a handsome but shy firefighter, it’s possible that life might just be going her way for a change. The only problem is she can’t control Jeff and the death wish he seems to have…
What Reviewers are saying…
Awesome!
by: Cindy
As you have come to expect from Staci Stallings, emotions run rampant through her characters, expertly captured into the written word. To Protect and Serve will hold you prisoner to its pages until the final one is turned. Prepare to cry, laugh, wish, love and maybe even cry again as you become enveloped in the hopes and feelings of Lisa and Jeff. You will find yourself encouraging them along the pathways of their lives, nudging them to find the right direction, perhaps daring them to chase the dreams long hidden in their hearts.
LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT!!!
by: Crystal Kelly
The love story beautifully put together here is one that builds and connects asserting that love not only takes time but trust. The thing I love the most is the ingredient of God’s divine direction. We cannot truly experience the love God designed for us if we do not experience Him. TO PROTECT & SERVE is a must read that you will pull of the shelf several times just to reconnect with the characters.
Courage, Love and Sacrifice make a wonderful story
by: dingo4mum
I cared about these characters, when they were happy, I was happy. When they were apart. I was sad. When they were devastated- I cried.
I enjoyed the spiritual lessons Jeff and Lisa learned. Facing your fears. Stepping out of the boat. Choosing to love. Choosing to sacrifice.
My favourite line: “I get angry, and sad, and terrified, but mostly I’m just thankful that even if we didn’t have forever on this earth together, we had the time we did… if I had to do it all over again, even knowing what I know now, I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.”
Sniff. It has a wonderful happy ending. I highly recommend this book. Please read it. Oh, and make sure the tissue box is handy.
Amazing
by: Rhonda Aberdeen
Staci Stalling is like an artist and she really paints a beautiful picture. There are few books that can glue me to my seat and with every Staci Stallings’ book, I am glued. There are books that you can actually predict what will come next. In Protect and Serve, you really can’t. I remembered reading the story and at one point, I thought to myself “how did she do this? this is simply amazing.” In Protect and Serve, you would smile with them, get angry with them and you’ll also cry when the characters are hurting. In this novel, Staci shows that love does not only encompass emotion, but to love, we need to trust, to accept and in some instances, surrender.
