You Can Come To Me

The sitcom set-up was easy enough. In fact, I could follow it while carrying on an in depth conversation with a friend of mine about the amazing love of the Holy Spirit.  The set-up amounted to this:  The father, a widower, was being pressured into “getting on with his life.”  Realizing that he was hanging on, he decided his friends were right, and he took off his wedding ring, determined to go on the date he’d been set up on.  As he was on the date, however, his two young daughters, upset by the thought of their father dating again, got into a fight and inadvertently knocked the wedding ring down the sink.

In true sitcom fashion the situation quickly deteriorated all the way to the two girls trying to take the sink apart to get the ring out.  Of course, by the time anyone found them, the bathroom was flooded and there was a huge mess.  At about that time, my conversation with my friend wound to a close, and we stood to go into the television room.  The show had come to the high point.  The father sat down with the oldest girl, and he said, “You know you can come to me with anything.”

With her head down, the young girl says sadly, “I know I should’ve come to you right away, but I panicked.”

Isn’t that exactly what God says to each of us?  He wants us to come to Him in our most difficult times.  In fact, He wants us to come before we’ve flooded the bathroom and made a real mess of things.  He wants us to trust His love enough to be able to come to Him and let Him help us.  However, too often, we are like the young daughter, “I know I should’ve come to you right away, but I panicked.”

Don’t panic.  He loves you, and He wants to help.  Go to Him. Tell Him what happened.  He won’t get mad.  He won’t throw you out of His house on your ear.  No.  He won’t.  Remember the parable of the Prodigal Son?  He will be so glad you turned around and came back, He won’t even let you get through your carefully prepared speech about what you should’ve done, could’ve done, would’ve done… He loves you so much He’ll throw His arms around you and throw a party!

In Him, you’ve got an ally like no other.  Don’t panic.  He’s on your side. He wants to help.  The only question is, will you let Him before you’ve made a total mess of things?  It’s your choice.  (2004)

This was an amazing book! It challenged me, made me think, and inspired me. The author tells you about different places in her own life and how God worked in situations. From forgiveness (that was a big one), to the dreams you have and what God has in store for you, to learning about words… Desire, inspire, enthusiasm, LIGHT, and decide, you will not regret reading this book. I’m going to start it again & read one every morning to start my day off thinking about what the Holy Spirit is going to show me!

I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to read this book. Reflections On Life by Staci Stallings. This is one book that I found hard to put down. I’ve already ready it more than once. Each time I read it. I found something new that touched me in a very special way. It made me realize just how important God is in my life and just how much He helps me every single day of my life. What a comfort to know that God loves us so much. This is a must read for all ages but, it sure would be great for younger people. It would help them to understand God more and bring them closer to Him. In today’s world with all the problems that we are dealing with. Everyone needs to turn back to God. This author has been blessed with a God given talent and anyone who reads her book will be blessed as well. God is calling us all back to him and this book says it in so many ways. God Bless You Staci, God is speaking through you in your writing.

This is one of those books that will touch you in different ways each time you read it. It is a collection of articles, each looking at a different aspect of your walk with God. As I read through it this time the article that spoke to me the loudest was taking the WHY and turning it into Your Holy Will. I know that when I read it a month from now, a different article will speak the loudest to me. There is a lot of wisdom in this book that Staci has shared with us. Short, well-written chapters will definitely give each person reading it something to think about. This is a book that will stay with you long after you put it down!
